March 2013 Huddersfield man guilty of engaging in sex acts with young boys A CONVICTED sex offender has pleaded guilty to further offences of engaging in sex acts with young boys. Now John Bottomley has been sent to prison to await sentence. Bottomley, of Ridge Close, Primrose Hill appeared at Leeds Crown Court charged with a string of offences against two boys aged five and seven. The offences are all said to have taken place in Huddersfield. White-haired Bottomley, 50, entered guilty pleas to two counts of causing or a inciting a child to engage in sexual activity which happened between May 1 and August 19 last year. Formal not guilty pleas were entered and accepted by the Crown on five similar counts and on a rape charge which will lie on file after sentence. Prosecutor Rob Myers said it had not been an easy decision by the Crown Prosecution Service. But he said it was a decision made after taking into consideration the ages of the children and the two guilty pleas on sexual offences. The court heard Bottomley, who has learning difficulties, had two previous convictions for sexual offences. No details were given of the nature of these convictions. The court was told Bottomley wished to be sentenced immediately but Judge Peter Collier QC adjourned the case until May 14 for pre-sentence reports. Bottomley, who used a crutch to step into the dock, was remanded in custody.
