JOEL WROE'S HORRIFIC INTRUSION IN BACUP: DRUG-DRIVEN ASSAULT ON TEENAGER AT HOME

In the early hours of a recent morning, a disturbing incident unfolded in Bacup involving Joel Wroe, a 24-year-old man whose reckless actions have left a young girl terrified and the community shaken. Wroe, who resides on Dale Street in Bacup, unlawfully entered the victim’s residence through a door that was insecure, providing him with easy access into her home.

Once inside, Wroe climbed into the teenage girl’s bed, an act that immediately caused her to feel threatened and terrified. The court was told that the girl believed Wroe was about to commit a sexual assault, and she repeatedly begged him to leave her room. Despite her pleas, which she voiced approximately twenty times, Wroe remained in her position, escalating the situation further.

According to the prosecution, Stephen Parker, Wroe initially sat beside the girl’s bed before eventually getting under the duvet covers. He then placed his hand on her over her clothing, an act that compounded her fear and distress. The court heard that the girl thought Wroe was going to rape her, and her repeated requests for him to leave were ignored. Wroe stayed in the bed with her for roughly fifteen minutes, during which time he continued to make unsettling advances.

Witnesses described how Wroe kept urging her to “come on, come on,” and when she pushed him away, he left the house, dismissively saying, “oh right whatever.” The incident was further revealed to have been fueled by Wroe’s consumption of cocaine and alcohol prior to the event, which took place in the early hours of the year.

Following his guilty plea to charges of trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence and engaging in sexual activity involving a child, Wroe was sentenced to 34 months in prison. Additionally, the court imposed a five-year sexual offences prevention order to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from potential harm.
