HIGHLAND MAN JAILED FOR DISTURBING CHILD ABUSE CONTENT
Joe Fowler, age 46, is currently incarcerated after authorities discovered footage of a child abuse-themed video game featuring a young girl character estimated to be between two and four years old, being sexually abused by a male-figure.A device seized from his Highland residence contained more than 57,000 illicit images of children and 144 videos depicting child abuse, including some classified as Category A, which represent the most severe forms of exploitation.
Fowler maintained that he had inadvertently downloaded the content and had deleted it once he recognized its nature.
Nevertheless, evidence suggested that he had viewed certain material multiple times and that files had been downloaded over a span of months or years.
Investigations showed no searches indicating predatory intent, but the evidence pointed to deliberate downloading and viewing.
Fowler acknowledged using file-sharing programs to circumvent subscription costs but denied any attraction to children, emphasizing he is a parent himself and finds the material repulsive.
The court found him guilty of intentionally downloading illegal content.
He was detained in custody, with sentencing postponed until a pre-sentencing report could be prepared, and he was immediately ordered to register on the sex offenders register.
