Carlow man fined for intoxicated assault at local pub

Joao Sanches, aged 57 and residing at Burrin Park in Carlow, was brought before Carlow District Court last week following an incident on June 3 at Tullow Street. The defendant was charged with being intoxicated to such a degree that he posed a danger to himself and others. Garda Maurice Mahon reported that he attended the Med Bar after receiving a report that Sanches had punched his girlfriend. Although the girlfriend declined to file a complaint, the court fined Sanches £100. The incident took place in Carlow, where the defendant was held by doormen at a local pub when the police arrived.
