JERSEY MAN SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST GIRL
In the Royal Court, Joao Carlos Gouveia Ferreira, aged 24, was added to the Sex Offender Register for a decade after admitting to multiple sexual offences.He was also issued a nine-year ban preventing him from contacting girls under 16.
Over an eight-month period, Ferreira committed a series of sexual abuse acts against a single girl.
He was detained after the victim reported the incidents following a lesson on sexual consent.
The court was told Ferreira engaged in actions that deprived the girl of her innocence, with evidence including a message in which he offered her money for sex.
His defense requested a three-year prison sentence, but the court sentenced him to six years, emphasizing his status as a sexual predator who 'stole the victim’s childhood' and demonstrated little remorse.
Ferreira admitted to three counts of indecent assault, unlawful sexual intercourse, and other related offences.
