JIMMY CASH IMPOSTER COP TERRORIZES WOMAN IN CHRISTCHURCH

In March 2021, a disturbing incident unfolded in Christchurch involving a man named Jimmy Cash, who impersonated a police officer to target a female driver. The victim was driving along the A495 near Wrexham when Cash, aged 28, pulled her over under false pretenses, claiming she was speeding.

Cash demanded a hefty fine of £5,000, threatening the woman with the loss of her driving license and potential court proceedings. However, in a shocking twist, Cash suggested that the fine could be reduced to £4,000 if she performed a sexual act on him, a demand that left her terrified and confused.

The court was told that the woman feared she was in imminent danger of being raped and even feared for her life during what she described as a 'terrifying ordeal.' Cash, who hails from Christchurch in south Wales, initially pleaded not guilty to charges of blackmail and false imprisonment but changed his plea last month to admit to those offenses.

On the day of the incident, Cash appeared via videolink from HMP Berwyn, where he was subsequently sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. Judge Rhys Rowlands expressed his condemnation of Cash's actions, stating, 'Understandably, she was terrified, fearing that she would be assaulted sexually and that she might die at your hands. Women such as this victim are entitled to be out and about in our communities safe from harm and from being targeted by men.'

The court heard that the victim was driving a luxury car on October 20 of the previous year at approximately 2:30 pm when Cash's black Audi suddenly appeared behind her. The vehicle was described as having come 'out of nowhere' and was 'right up near the boot.' Cash flashed his headlights and gestured for her to pull over, leading her to believe she was being stopped by an undercover police officer.

She complied and stopped in a nearby lay-by, convinced that Cash was a legitimate officer. The woman described Cash as 'professional and dressed all in black,' speaking confidently and with the demeanor of someone knowledgeable about police procedures. He claimed to be from the 'drugs squad' and insisted he was doing a favor for the police.

Cash then presented her with two options: pay a large fine or face court, lose her license, and go through legal proceedings. During the encounter, he demanded a sexual favor in exchange for reducing the fine, which made her realize he was not a real officer. She then activated a recording device on her phone to document the interaction.

Inside her vehicle, Cash continued to demand £5,000 or £4,000 along with a sexual act. He told her she could 'go home and wash' if she complied, claiming he wouldn't offer such an option to anyone else. The court heard audio recordings in which Cash told the victim she 'did not have to do this if you don’t want to,' and insisted she would pay the money but would not perform the sexual act.

Despite Cash's threats, the woman managed to escape and ran to a nearby café, where she asked staff to call the police. Cash fled the scene before authorities arrived. The victim later provided a statement, expressing her feelings of insecurity and fear, stating, 'The world doesn’t feel safe to me anymore. I kept thinking, why did this happen to me? Why did he pick me?'

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Rhys Rowlands imposed a five-year restraining order preventing Cash from contacting the victim. The case highlights the dangers posed by impersonators and the importance of vigilance when encountering suspicious individuals claiming to be law enforcement.
