SWANSEA MAN LOSES CAREER AND FACES JAIL FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A man named Jeremy Ousey lost his position in medical school after being arrested for possessing nearly 800 indecent images of children, including 200 of Category A material depicting extreme abuse and rape. The images included girls being abused and crying out in pain and distress. Police found these images on multiple electronic devices after responding to intelligence that indecent images had been uploaded online at his shared house in Swansea. During questioning, Ousey, of Bryn Road, Brynmill, admitted to downloading files of pornography and allowing others in chatrooms to use his accounts. He described his preferences as "barely legal," between 19 and 24 years old. He also engaged in chat conversations, in one of which he told a person pretending to be a 13-year-old girl, "I don't care about your age, just your humiliation." Ousey had pleaded guilty to various charges, including possession of indecent images in categories A, B, and C, possession of extreme pornography, possession of a prohibited child image, and attempted sexual communication with a child. Despite claiming to have no sexual interest in children, the court did not accept this. The court heard that he had previously lost his place in medical school due to his actions and that references described him as respectful and generous. The judge, Recorder Paul Lewis KC, stated that Ousey gave multiple excuses when arrested and noted that he had already been punished by losing his career. Ousey was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to undergo rehabilitation. He was also subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sex offender for 10 years.
