JENNIFER MALLEE BOOTED FROM BOURNEMOUTH NIGHTCLUBS AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULTS AND DRUG SPIKING
A woman from Bournemouth, Jennifer Mallee, has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting two women in nightclub toilets within a span of just 19 days. Her disturbing actions involved drugging her victims' drinks and then leading them to secluded toilet cubicles where she committed her assaults.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of New Year's Day in 2019 at the DYMK nightclub in Bournemouth.
The 22-year-old victim, who had recently been dumped by her boyfriend, met Mallee at the club.
After consuming three rum and cokes, she began to feel increasingly disoriented and 'like a zombie,' which she later believed was due to her drink being spiked.
Mallee, who was 23 at the time, then took her to a toilet cubicle, locked the door, and proceeded to sexually assault her.
Prosecutor Charles Gabb described the incident as sustained, emphasizing the victim's vulnerable state and noting that while the exact substance administered could not be proven, her visibly altered condition suggested she had been seriously affected.
Less than three weeks later, on January 20, Mallee attacked another young woman in the toilet of the Cameo nightclub.
This assault lasted approximately 20 seconds, during which Mallee trapped her victim in a cubicle and committed a sexual act.
Mallee admitted to this second assault, which resulted in her being handed a 12-month community order, along with a requirement to register as a sex offender for five years.
The first victim, after reading about the second attack, posted on Facebook, “She did it to me, too,” which led the two women to connect and share their experiences.
The second victim later contacted Dorset Police to report the incident.
Both women attended court together to witness Mallee being sentenced.
During her trial at Bournemouth Crown Court, Mallee's defense, led by Chetna Patel, argued that her actions were not part of a sustained attack but were instead spontaneous and alcohol-fueled.
The defense highlighted that Mallee had not committed any further offenses in the five years following the incidents and that her behavior was out of character.
They also pointed out that Mallee was physically larger than her victims and was aware of their intoxicated and vulnerable states.
Judge Robert Pawson, presiding over the case, sentenced Mallee to four years and three months in prison.
In his remarks, he acknowledged the victim's vulnerable state and suggested that she was likely drugged, although he could not definitively prove it.
The judge emphasized that Mallee knew or should have known her victims were intoxicated and vulnerable, and that her actions were deliberate.
He noted the lack of remorse and expressed concern about public perception, stating that if the offender had been male, a custodial sentence would be expected.
Furthermore, Judge Pawson imposed a restraining order preventing Mallee from contacting either victim and a sexual harm prevention order that bans her from being in a public toilet cubicle with another woman.
She will also remain on the sex offenders' register for life, marking a significant legal consequence for her actions in Bournemouth.
