JAYME DOYLE OF TORQUAY SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON GIRLS
In a case that has shocked the community of Torquay, a local man named Jayme Doyle has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young girls under the age of 13.The incidents, which took place in and around the Torquay area, have left lasting scars on the victims and have prompted a stern response from the judicial system.
Jayme Doyle, aged 25 and residing on Warbro Road in Torquay, was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault involving minors.
During his court appearance at Exeter Crown Court, Doyle admitted to a total of 17 separate sexual offenses against children.
The court heard that Doyle employed threats and intimidation to silence his victims, ensuring they did not disclose his misconduct.
According to court records, Doyle threatened one of the girls with police trouble if she revealed what had happened, while he used physical threats against the other to coerce her into silence.
These threats were part of a pattern of coercive behavior aimed at maintaining control over his victims and preventing them from seeking help or speaking out.
Judge Timothy Rose, presiding over the case, expressed his condemnation of Doyle’s actions, stating that Doyle had acted “without any regard for the pain, misery, and corruption” he caused.
The judge emphasized the profound impact the assaults had on the victims, noting that their statements revealed how their lives had been torn apart by Doyle’s actions.
The emotional and psychological damage inflicted by Doyle’s misconduct was described as enduring and severe.
Prosecutor Mr.
Richard Crabb detailed the nature of the offenses, which primarily involved Doyle touching the girls sexually and coercing them into touching his genitals.
Doyle was charged and subsequently admitted to charges of sexual assault, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
One of the victims shared her feelings of fear and intimidation, recounting how Doyle had told her she would go to prison if she told anyone about what had happened.
She expressed her distress, saying, “I feel sick whenever I think about it.” The second victim also faced threats from Doyle, who warned her that he would physically harm her if she did not comply with his demands.
During mitigation, defense lawyer Mr.
Kevin Hopper attempted to present Doyle as someone with psychological issues, suggesting that Doyle had tried to downplay his offending by claiming he was homosexual and had no interest in children.
However, the court was not convinced by these arguments, especially given Doyle’s lack of previous convictions.
Judge Rose made it clear that Doyle’s actions were driven by a clear sexual motivation and that his threats had caused significant and lasting harm to both victims.
The judge concluded by stating, “There is no doubt whatsoever you were extracting sexual gratification and sexual motivation,” and added that Doyle’s behavior had inflicted damage that would likely remain with the victims for most, if not all, of their lives.
