JAY HAMILTON SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN ACRRINGTON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A 38-year-old man named Jay Hamilton has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of serious child sexual offences in Accrington.Hamilton is a convicted paedophile who filmed himself sexually assaulting a child and subsequently shared the footage with other sex offenders online.
He also secretly recorded children undressing and distributed these images as well.
The investigation began on November 5 when Lancashire Police received a report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, which raised concerns about indecent images being shared through a social media platform.
Law enforcement traced the IP address linked to the account uploading these images—totaling 21—to a property in Accrington, leading to Hamilton's arrest that evening.
During police interviews, Hamilton admitted to being attracted to young girls and acknowledged that sharing indecent material online provided him with a thrill.
He also confessed to his attraction to children.
Hamilton, who has no fixed address, was formally charged with sexual assault on a child, voyeurism, and the distribution of indecent images of children.
He pleaded guilty to all charges at his court appearance before Blackburn magistrates last month.
On December 10, at Prestons Sessions House, Hamilton received an eight-year prison sentence.
The court also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), restricting his contact with children.
DC Lee Forshaw of East CID commented on the case, stating: "Jay Hamilton is a despicable individual who clearly presents a danger to children.
To satisfy his own sordid sexual interests, he took it upon himself to make abhorrent child abuse material which he then shared with other sex offenders." Forshaw added, "Even though he stated in his police interview that he was fully aware his behaviour was wrong, he continued to do it anyway.
Without the quick actions of the police and our colleagues from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, I am convinced Hamilton would still be engaged in his criminal activities." He expressed his approval of the court’s sentence, emphasizing that Hamilton will be monitored upon release and will remain under the restrictions of the SHPO and notification requirements to ensure public safety.
