JASON MUSTOE FROM DAVENTRY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
A man named Jason Mustoe, aged 53 and residing on The Medway in Daventry, has been sentenced to serve time in prison after a jury at Northampton Crown Court found him guilty of sexually assaulting a vulnerable male victim. The court's decision reflects the gravity of his actions and the serious nature of the case.Mustoe received a prison sentence of three years and four months. However, due to the dangerous nature of his offending, his sentence was extended by an additional two years on licence, emphasizing the risk he poses to the public. Furthermore, the court imposed a four-year restraining order that prohibits him from making any contact with the victim, alongside an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order designed to prevent any future offenses of a similar nature.
The conviction stems from a trial that lasted four days at Northampton Crown Court, where Mustoe was found guilty of one count of sexual assault on a male. The incident in question occurred on January 13 of this year, and the sentencing took place at the end of March. The court heard that on July 27, 2024, Mustoe had engaged in inappropriate sexual touching of the victim, who was described as vulnerable. The victim had initially trusted Mustoe, who had befriended him, but the situation turned sinister when Mustoe continued his unwanted advances despite being told to stop.
According to court reports, the victim expressed discomfort and told Mustoe that his actions made him feel uneasy. Although Mustoe apologized, he persisted with his sexual advances, ignoring the victim’s pleas to cease. Feeling increasingly distressed, the victim managed to leave the scene and seek safety. Once in a secure environment, he confided in a friend, who advised him to report the incident to Northamptonshire Police. This led to Mustoe’s arrest and subsequent charging in connection with the assault.
On July 30, Mustoe appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court, where he did not enter a plea. His case was then transferred to Northampton Crown Court for trial, and he was remanded in custody pending proceedings. Detective Constable Stevens, a member of the CID West team, commented on the case, condemning Mustoe’s predatory behavior. He stated, “Jason Mustoe’s predatory behaviour towards a vulnerable man, who trusted him and saw him as a friend, is deplorable. I am pleased that the jury saw him for the dangerous sexual predator that he is, and that the extended prison sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending and the potential risk that he poses to the public.”
Detective Constable Stevens also praised the victim for his bravery and dignity throughout the investigation and trial, acknowledging the trauma of reliving the experience. The report and custody image have been released with the survivor’s consent, who retains lifelong anonymity as per legal rights.
