AYR SEX OFFENDER STUNG SENDING INDECENT PICS TO 'TEEN GIRL'
A man has confessed to sending explicit images to someone he believed was a teenage girl.Jason Mason admitted guilt at Ayr Sheriff Court to the offense of transmitting indecent material to what he thought was a minor.
The 49-year-old confessed to causing a person, whom he believed to be a girl aged between 13 and 16, to view a sexual image from an address on Oakwood Avenue in Ayr, during the period from March 27 to April 10, 2024.
He acknowledged sending images of his bare genitals and upper body, with the intent of either obtaining sexual satisfaction or humiliating, frightening, or upsetting the recipient, who was actually an adult woman.
Mason confirmed his guilt when he appeared in court again, with defence lawyer Tony Currie representing him.
A plea of not guilty was entered for a separate charge of deliberately sending a sexually explicit written message intending to communicate with a minor, which was accepted after a plea bargain.
Mason, of Whitehall, Maybole, remains on bail and has been placed on the sex offenders register.
He is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing at a later date.
