JASON FITZGERALD OF EASTBOURNE SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS FOR MAKING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN

The police discovered that Fitzgerald had created an encrypted folder on his computer to store these illicit files, a move that complicated the investigation.
Despite multiple requests from law enforcement officers, Fitzgerald refused to provide the password to access the encrypted folder.
During the court proceedings, Fitzgerald attempted to deny that he had used the encrypted folder, claiming that he had simply forgotten the password.
His defense was met with skepticism, given the evidence of his ownership and creation of the folder.
Judge Jeremy Gold, presiding over the case, emphasized that Fitzgerald’s cooperation could have influenced the severity of his sentence.
The judge made it clear that if Fitzgerald had cooperated and provided the passwords when asked, his sentence might have been suspended, implying a lesser penalty.
