SUTTON MAN JAILED FOR SICKENING HOME INVASION AND RAPE
A 46-year-old man named Jason Batchelor of Malden Road, in Sutton, southwest London, brutally attacked a 78-year-old woman in her own home.The pensioner, who cannot be named for legal reasons, recounted how she answered her door around 7.45am after hearing tapping on her French windows.
She described Batchelor as soaking wet and initially told him to go away, but he forced his way in.
The victim then described how Batchelor pushed the door back, punched her in the face, and threatened her, saying, “I will kill you I have got a knife.” He then ordered her to strip and proceeded to rape her, attempt to rape her again, and perform a sex act on her.
The attacker also demanded money, leaving only after she handed him £20 and warning her, “If you breathe a word of this or tell the police I shall come back and f***ing murder you.” The woman, now 79, spoke emotionally about her experience, stating she felt helpless, shocked, and vulnerable at her age.
Batchelor was identified through DNA evidence and pleaded guilty to multiple charges of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, rape, sexual assault, and attempted rape.
He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment plus eight years on extended license at London’s Old Bailey.
The judge described the offences as “utterly unspeakable” and condemned Batchelor’s actions as “vile threats,” “physical assault,” and “evil.” Even his barrister acknowledged the severity of his behavior, calling it “immoral” and “disgusting.”
