JASON AND YVONNE ADDINALL'S HORRIFIC ANIMAL NEGLECT IN YORK REVEALED
In a disturbing case of animal neglect that has shocked the community of York, Jason Michael Addinall, born on October 15, 1970, and his partner Yvonne Addinall, born on May 26, 1972, both residents of Hewley Avenue, Tang Hall, were found guilty of failing to care for their pet dog, Hendrix, a Lhasa Apso. The neglect occurred over a period spanning from January 1 to August 2018, during which the couple neglected their dog to the point of severe health deterioration.
Hendrix was subjected to a series of distressing health issues, including a serious skin condition, conjunctivitis, and overgrown nails that indicated a complete lack of proper veterinary attention.
The dog’s suffering was evident, yet the Addinalls did not seek any medical intervention or treatment for their pet’s worsening condition.
This neglect was brought to light when the RSPCA intervened, rescuing Hendrix and providing him with the necessary care.
Fortunately, the dog has since made a full recovery and is now in a safe environment.
During court proceedings, the couple admitted to three charges of animal neglect.
Their lawyer explained that the Addinalls had been under significant personal stress during the period in question.
Yvonne Addinall had been hospitalized with meningitis and pneumonia from January to March 2018, which reportedly distracted her and contributed to her neglect of Hendrix.
Her partner, Jason, was also said to have been preoccupied with her health issues, which allegedly led to their failure to care for their dog properly.
The court heard that both individuals had pleaded guilty to the charges, acknowledging their neglect.
As part of the sentencing, Jason Addinall was fined £450, along with a statutory surcharge of £45.
Yvonne Addinall received a fine of £200, with an additional statutory surcharge of £30.
Furthermore, both were ordered to pay £150 in prosecution costs to the RSPCA.
The court also imposed a three-year ban on both from owning or keeping dogs, a restriction that expired in January 2022.
Animal welfare advocates and the community have expressed outrage over the case, emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership and timely veterinary care.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of neglect and the need for vigilance in caring for animals, especially during times of personal hardship.
