JASMINE ROWBOTTOM FROM DUDLEY CAUGHT WITH 2000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN WEST MIDLANDS
In a case that has shocked the local community, Jasmine Zoe Rowbottom, a 24-year-old woman originally from Dudley in the West Midlands, was found guilty of possessing a staggering collection of over 2,000 child abuse images on her personal computer. The court proceedings took place at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday, October 14, following a detailed investigation into her activities.
Rowbottom, who provided her address as Mowbreck Park, a caravan site located in Wesham near two primary schools, became the focus of police scrutiny after a raid conducted by the Online Child Exploitation Team at her Dudley residence on June 6, 2016.
During this operation, authorities seized her computer equipment, which included more than 50 pieces of electronic devices, all of which underwent meticulous forensic analysis.
The investigation was described by police as painstaking, reflecting the complexity and thoroughness required to uncover the extent of her digital activities.
The police report confirmed that the seized devices contained a vast number of indecent images, including extreme pornography and videos depicting children being sexually abused.
Despite her initial denial, claiming that the images might have been caused by a virus or that they originated from a USB stick she had been given years earlier, forensic experts conclusively proved that her claims were unfounded.
The evidence clearly demonstrated her possession and creation of indecent images and videos involving minors, as well as material classified as extreme pornography.
Following her conviction, Rowbottom was sentenced to 21 months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning she would not serve time unless she committed another offence within that period.
Additionally, she was subjected to a strict set of restrictions, including a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for ten years and a requirement to register as a sex offender for the same duration.
Furthermore, she was placed under a two-year supervision order, ensuring ongoing monitoring of her activities to prevent any future offences.
Her case has raised serious concerns about online safety and the protection of children from exploitation, highlighting the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts in tackling such heinous crimes.
The community in Dudley and the surrounding areas continues to grapple with the implications of this case, which underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in the distribution and possession of child abuse material.
