JAROSLAV SKORPIK CAUGHT IN GRIMSBY: SEXUAL OFFENSES IN FRONT OF YOUNG GIRLS AT LOCAL PARK AND JAIL SENTENCE
In December 2020, Jaroslav Skorpik, a 62-year-old resident of Kesgrave Street in Grimsby, was formally sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court to serve a 12-month prison term following his guilty plea to a serious sexual misconduct charge. The court's decision came after Skorpik admitted to intentionally engaging in sexual activity in a public space, fully aware that children could be present and aware of his actions.
The sentencing also included the imposition of a stringent 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
This order restricts Skorpik from entering designated play areas and parks within the community, aiming to prevent any future incidents involving children.
Law enforcement officers assigned to monitor the SHPO will keep a close watch on him throughout its duration, ensuring compliance and safeguarding the local youth.
The criminal case against Skorpik is rooted in a disturbing incident that occurred in June 2018, when he was observed by two young girls, aged 11 and 13, engaging in inappropriate behavior while sitting in his vehicle.
The girls, who were playing in a park near Haycroft Street, saw Skorpik touching himself in a sexual manner.
The incident took place around 8 pm, and the girls, visibly distressed, proceeded to walk to one of their homes afterward.
One of the girls' mothers, unable to communicate directly with Skorpik due to his limited English skills, confronted him after witnessing the act.
She then took photographs of Skorpik and his vehicle before contacting Humberside Police to report the incident.
The police investigation revealed that Skorpik had been sitting in his car, which was parked at the corner of Haycroft Street, when the girls observed his inappropriate behavior.
During police interviews, Skorpik claimed that he was on medication that required him to urinate frequently, which he asserted was the reason he was seen urinating in an empty coffee cup in his vehicle.
This explanation was considered as mitigating evidence by the magistrates, suggesting a lack of premeditation.
However, Skorpik later admitted to masturbating in his car on multiple occasions, confirming a pattern of concerning behavior.
Further background information disclosed that Skorpik had a prior conviction for a similar offense in Germany in 2014.
His guilty plea to the charge of intentionally engaging in sexual activity in a place where a child could be aware of it was accepted by the court.
He is scheduled to appear before Grimsby Crown Court for sentencing on November 27, where additional penalties and conditions may be imposed to protect the community.
