2017: RAPIST JAILED FOLLOWING ATTACK ON DUDLEY WOMAN
A MAN who beat up and raped a Dudley woman has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
Polish born Jarolslaw Szmigielski had banged his victim's head on the ground, punched her and also threatened her with knives.
The 25-year-old had also recorded part of the offending on his mobile phone, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
Szmigielski, of King Street, Walsall, had denied rape and charges of assault and battery but he was found guilty after the jury retired to consider the evidence at the end of his trial.
Judge Nicholas Webb ruled that only a substantial prison sentence was justified and said Szmigielski, who had carried out a course of sexual and physical abuse towards his victim, must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Charles Hamer, defending, said Szmigielski was a man of previous good character and he had always been hard working since moving to the Walsall area in September 2014.
