JANE BECK AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENCES IN GLASGOW AND STRANRAER
A convicted sex offender with a disturbing history of sexual misconduct and assaults has been sentenced to prison after committing multiple offenses in Glasgow and elsewhere.Jane Beck, aged 53, whose past activities include a series of predatory acts and lewd behavior, was found guilty of serious misconduct involving two women volunteers at a church café, as well as engaging in inappropriate conduct during a work Zoom call.
Beck’s criminal record reveals a troubling pattern that spans over a decade.
Originally from Leeds, she previously worked in the kitchen at the Fed Up drop-in centre located in Stranraer.
Between 2021 and 2022, she committed two distinct assaultive acts against women.
One involved grabbing a woman’s left arm and placing her right hand on the woman’s waist, actions which caused genuine fear and distress to her victims.
On separate occasions, Beck is accused of sliding her body against a female victim as she walked past and touching her back and buttocks while on duty.
These instances prompted the victim to report her to the police, leading to Beck’s arrest in July 2022.
In addition to her physical misconduct, Beck was involved in a disturbing incident during a work conference call for the Avon organization between October and December 2021.
During this virtual meeting, she allegedly exposed herself by flashing her genitals, an act that drew condemnation from authorities.
Despite her lawyer trying to diminish the severity of this offense by claiming Beck’s careless behavior was responsible, the court dismissed these arguments.
It was revealed that Beck had attended work calls wearing a loosely tied dressing gown with nothing underneath, despite prior warnings about her attire.
Court proceedings further outlined Beck’s history of sexually motivated conducts.
In 2008, under her previous identity Graeme Beck, she served two years in prison after attacking a sleeping woman she had contacted via a Christian dating site.
That assault led to her being issued a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) banning her from approaching children.
The seriousness of her past crimes was underscored when a victim described her as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” and emphasized that as a male sexual predator, she should serve time in a male prison.
More recently, in July 2021, Beck, who now identified as female, attacked another woman in Dumfriesshire by lunging at her breasts while dressed in a dress.
The victim recounted her experience, describing Beck as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” and expressed the belief that Beck should be treated as a male due to her biological sex, emphasizing that her predatory behavior was indicative of a male sexual offender.
Following her guilty plea to groping the 47-year-old woman, Beck was issued a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order that prohibited her from having unsupervised contact with minors unless approved by a supervising officer.
She was also barred from establishing relationships without proper authorization.
The recent sentencing saw Beck face 144 days behind bars, along with non-harassment orders preventing her from approaching victims for three years.
Additionally, she was placed on the sex offenders’ register for seven years and subject to a three-year sexual offences prevention order.
Sheriff Anthony McGlennan highlighted the gravity of her offenses, considering her prior convictions and the potential risk to the public, particularly women.
He emphasized that, despite her ongoing community payback order, the severity of her actions warranted immediate imprisonment to serve as a deterrent to further offending.
The Scottish Prison Service has so far declined to confirm whether Beck has been detained in a male or female facility, noting recent controversies involving transgender prisoners housed contrary to their biological sex.
This case raises ongoing discussions about the appropriate management and classification of transgender inmates with histories of violence against women.
