ROYAL AIDE JANE ANDREWS TO BE RELEASED AFTER 14 YEARS FOR MURDER
Jane Andrews, who formerly served as an aide to the Duchess of York, was convicted of murdering her partner, Thomas Cressman, in the year 2000.After serving a total of 14 years—exceeding the minimum 11-year sentence—she is now scheduled for release from prison.
Her conviction came after the Old Bailey found her guilty of fatally stabbing Cressman with a kitchen knife and assaulting him with a cricket bat while he was asleep at their residence in west London.
The prosecution argued that Andrews committed the act out of revenge because he refused to marry her.
During her trial, Andrews maintained that her actions were driven by fear due to previous abuse, though the jury rejected her explanation.
Recently, the Parole Board decided to grant her release, citing that a panel had determined she no longer poses a threat to society.
At the time of her release, Andrews was 46 years old.
She had previously attempted to be released earlier, citing ongoing concerns about her perceived danger to men, but these requests were denied.
She was also known for working as Sarah Ferguson’s dresser until 1997, and there was a prior incident where she escaped from prison but was quickly recaptured.
Her case attracted public interest because of her close ties to the royal family and her criminal conduct.
