SEVERE SENTENCE FOR CONVICTED RAPIST FROM SANDBANK
A man named Jamie Rudling from Sandbank, Argyll, who was convicted of raping two women, has been sentenced to an Order of Lifelong Restriction, indicating he may never be released from prison.
This order is reserved for the most dangerous sex offenders.
Rudling, aged 28 at the time, received this sentence at the High Court in Glasgow after being convicted in October 2015.
During the sentencing, Lady Carmichael described him as 'high risk' and stated that he must serve three and a half years before he can apply for parole, emphasizing the severity of his pattern of serious sexual offending which has become increasingly excessive over a short period.
She highlighted that the protection of the public necessitated a Lifelong Restriction, and Rudling may never be released.
His previous convictions include attempting to rape a sleeping woman in Dunoon in 2007, grooming two 14-year-old girls in Ayrshire in 2011, and breaching probation later that year.
During his recent trial, court hearings revealed he attacked one victim while she was asleep in October 2014, and raped another victim between March 2003 and March 2011, when she was only 10 years old.
The victim's father expressed his concern, calling Rudling 'sick in the head' and stating he hopes the parole board will never release him, describing him as 'a threat to every woman or girl' and refusing to degrade him by calling him an animal.
