April 2021 Pervert calling himself ‘Sir Jim’ snared by paedophile hunters in Derby A pervert using the name “Sir Jim 76” ended up being surrounded by a group of paedophile hunters in Mackworth. Derby Crown Court heard how Jamie Nicholls told people online he thought were children to touch themselves sexually and send him explicit photos of themselves. When the 44-year-old was arrested and interviewed he claimed he was in Prince Charles Avenue to meet a 26-year-old woman and not a child. But he later admitted to sexual chat with the victims, who were both decoys claiming to be girls aged 12 and 13. Handing Nicholls, of Chesterfield, a two-year community order, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “These are serious matters for a number of reasons. “Firstly, it spanned a number of months and there were two different people. “You asked for pictures of them and then told them you wanted to feel various parts of their anatomy.” He told Nicholls, who has cerebral palsy: “Let me make it absolutely clear, I am reserving any breaches (of the order) to myself and, cerebral palsy or not, you will be going to custody.” Fergus Malone, prosecuting, said two different paedophile hunter groups posing as young girls entered online conversations with Nicholls, of York Street, Hasland, in 2019. He said over a matter of months he asked for photos of them and made sexual comments to them. Mr Malone said: “On December 30, 2019, police were alerted to an incident by a phone call from someone saying ‘Jamie Nicholls is a sexual groomer and is currently surrounded by a group of activists who deal with online child abuse’. “He said it was outside the Co-op in Prince Charles Avenue, Mackworth, Derby, and was arrested. “Following investigations it was found that he had been communicating with two child decoys in 2019.” The defendant pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to engage a child in sexual communication. As part of the community order Nicholls must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and attend 35 rehabilitation sessions. He was placed on the Sex Offender Register for 10 years and was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. Nicholls was also ordered to pay £340 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
