JAMIE LOWE FROM ROCHDALE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST GIRL IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
In a case that has drawn significant attention, Jamie Lowe, a resident of Rochdale, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences committed against a young girl in the Buckinghamshire area. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse spanning several years, during which Lowe, then a teenager himself, engaged in inappropriate and illegal sexual activities with a girl under the age of 13.
On June 3 at Aylesbury Crown Court, Lowe was convicted on eight counts related to sexual misconduct involving a minor.
The charges included four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and four counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The jury reached a unanimous verdict, confirming Lowe’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The offences took place between 2008 and 2013, a period during which the victim was particularly vulnerable due to her young age.
Following his conviction, Lowe was sentenced on Friday, July 15.
The court took into account that Lowe was under 18 at the time of the offences, but emphasized that this did not absolve him of responsibility.
The judge made it clear that Lowe was aware from the outset that his actions were wrong, stating, “you knew from the outset what you were doing was wrong.” As part of his sentence, Lowe will be required to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his contact with minors.
Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order has been imposed, which limits his interactions with children and aims to prevent any future harm.
Det Con Melissa Lee, a representative of Thames Valley Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit, commented on the case, highlighting the bravery of the victim.
“This was a case in which the victim showed great bravery in coming forward and in telling police and the court what had happened to her,” she said.
She further noted that although Lowe was a minor himself at the time, he exploited the vulnerability of a young girl for his own gratification.
“This sentence demonstrates that the damage caused by such behaviour is not something police and the courts will take lightly,” she added, reaffirming the seriousness with which these crimes are treated.
