MAN JAILED FOR REPEATED SEXUAL ABUSE OF GIRL
A man named Jamie Hollingsworth has received a substantial prison sentence of over seven years following his conviction for the serious and repeated sexual abuse of a young girl over a period of several months in Bournemouth. The case was brought to a conclusion at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday, October 4, where Hollingsworth, aged 37, was officially sentenced after being found guilty during an earlier trial of causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activities.
The court heard evidence demonstrating the disturbing continual abuse that spanned approximately nine months.
Hollingsworth, whose address is listed as Turbary Park Avenue in Bournemouth, was sentenced to a term of seven years and nine months in a maximum-security prison.
In addition to his incarceration, he was deemed a danger to the public and consequently placed under a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect indefinitely, shutting down any possibility of contact with minors or engaging in related activities for the foreseeable future.
Furthermore, he is now on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his case.
The charges against Hollingsworth stem from his repeated exploitation of a young girl over a lengthy period, an offense that was uncovered after the victim disclosed the abusive incidents to her family.
Following her disclosures, her family promptly reported the matter to the police, leading to Hollingsworth’s swift arrest on Thursday, February 11.
Detective Constable Jo Shewbridge, a member of Dorset Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT), expressed her commendation for the bravery exhibited by the young victim and her family.
She emphasised, “I want to praise the young victim in this case and her family for having the courage to come forward and for the support they have given throughout the investigation and court process.
Through their bravery, Jamie Hollingsworth has been forced to face the consequences of his abusive behaviour.
I hope this might inspire others who have been the victims of sexual offences to come forward in the knowledge that they will be supported and we will do all we can to bring offenders to justice.”
