JAMIE HARDY SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR RAPE AND ARSON IN BATH

In a grim case that has shaken the community of Bath, 36-year-old Jamie Hardy has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of a series of heinous crimes. The incident involved a brutal sexual assault as well as acts of destruction that left the victim deeply traumatized.

Jamie Hardy, who does not have a fixed residence, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, 19 July. His conviction came after a jury delivered a unanimous verdict, declaring him guilty of oral rape, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, sexual assault, and multiple other assault charges. The court also acknowledged his guilty plea at the commencement of the trial to the earlier charge of arson.

According to the court records and testimony presented during the case, Hardy subjected his victim to a series of horrifying acts. The assault included a severe sexual violation—specifically oral rape—that caused significant physical injuries. Additionally, Hardy intentionally set fire to her personal belongings, causing further emotional and material damage. The victim sustained serious bruising from the assault, with reports indicating she was left with two black eyes, a clear physical testament to her ordeal.

In a poignant personal statement read during the proceedings, the victim conveyed the profound and lasting impact of her experience. She expressed that she “won't ever be able to articulate” the extent of the abuse she endured. The trauma has profoundly affected her daily life, and she revealed that she constantly fights to forget what happened. The injuries and emotional scars have prompted her to avoid contact with her own family, highlighting the deep level of her distress.

The judge overseeing Hardy's case imposed a sentence of 13 years in prison, recognizing the severity of his crimes. In addition to the custodial term, the court issued an indefinite restraining order to prevent Hardy from approaching or contacting the victim again. Hardy was also mandated to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life and was explicitly barred from working with children and vulnerable adults, aiming to protect those at risk from future harm.
