SACRISTON MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDERS TWICE IN ONE DAY
A County Durham man has been jailed for 16 weeks after twice breaching restraining orders within one day.
Jamie Greenwell, 29, of Newtown Villas, Sacriston, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on November 3.
The court heard Greenwell attended the home address of a named man on October 31, despite being under a restraining order preventing this.
On the same day, Greenwell also contacted a named woman, breaching a second restraining order.
Greenwell pleaded guilty to both offences.
The court was told that these breaches showed a "flagrant disregard for court orders".
Magistrates said the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.
Greenwell was sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment for each offence, totaling 16 weeks.
The court took Greenwell’s guilty plea into account when passing sentence.
The restraining orders had been imposed by the same court in April.
