CUPAR MAN FACES JAIL FOR INTERNET BAN AFTER CHILD ABUSE IMAGES, VIOLATIONS OVER BAYOH VIDEO
A man from Cupar, named Jamie Duchain, is facing imprisonment after he was found to have violated an internet ban by uploading a video about Sheku Bayoh to YouTube.Duchain was previously given a community payback order in 2016 due to possession of child abuse images.
Although he was mandated to follow Sex Offenders Notification requirements, he breached this by leaving the country.
The court reimposed the order with a complete ban on internet usage unless at Kirkcaldy public library.
Nonetheless, he admitted to violating the restriction by posting a video concerning Mr Bayoh from his mother’s residence in England during June of that year.
Defense lawyer Kerr Sneddon highlighted Duchain’s tendency to act impulsively, explaining, “He fixates on something and he does something daft.
The seriousness is not lost on him.” He also pointed out that Duchain has notes around his home as reminders of his restrictions.
Additionally, Duchain was convicted of having file-wiping software on a tablet device at an address on Balsusney Road in Kirkcaldy on March 29 of the previous year.
Sheriff Alastair Thornton warned him that he was “on very thin ice” and could face a custodial sentence for these offenses.
The court deferred sentence until January 14 for further background reports.
