Kidderminster, Worcestershire Animal Abuser

CONVICTED (2024) | Jamie Cook aka Jay Cook, born 7 December 1996, of Hurcott Road, Kidderminster DY10 2PQ – kicked and punched his dog and threw him at a parked car’s windscreen, smashing it. Cook was convicted of two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, one count of assault emergency worker and one count of criminal damage. A member of the public contacted police on 31 July 2024 after witnessing Cook beating the dog. A second witness saw him pick up the terrified animal and throw him on to the windscreen of a parked car. Police Constable Callum Archer attended the incident and identified Cook from CCTV footage before arresting him at his home address. Cook spat on another officer in custody. Investigating officer PC Archer said: “This was a particularly cruel attack on what was the owner’s own dog, so we are pleased to get a conviction and see him banned from owning animals as well as serving jail time. “Thank you to those members of the public who reported his violent actions to us and helped our investigation secure this sentence. “Fortunately, the dog came through the ordeal physically unscathed and has now been rehomed.” Sentencing | 16-week custodial sentence for the animal cruelty charges, half of which is to be served on licence. Two-week custodial for the assault charge to be served concurrently; £95 compensation for damage to the car. Banned from owning an animal for 10 years (expires November 2034) .
