In a chilling case that has shocked the community of Manchester, a young man named Jamie Chadwick has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of a 12-month-old girl named Orianna Crilly-Cifrova.The tragic incident unfolded on October 16 of the previous year, leaving a trail of deception, betrayal, and heartbreak that has resonated deeply within the local area.
Chadwick, aged 22, was under investigation at the time for causing serious brain injuries to another young child, a six-month-old boy referred to in court as Baby T.
Despite this ongoing inquiry, he was found to have had contact with Orianna, the daughter of his partner, Chelsea Crilly, which was a breach of the strict conditions imposed on him.
The court heard that Chadwick had previously concealed his interactions with Orianna, even hiding under a bed during a social worker’s visit, in an attempt to evade scrutiny.
It was revealed that Chelsea Crilly, aged 20, had lied to social workers, healthcare visitors, police officers, and medical professionals about her interactions with Chadwick and Orianna.
She admitted to the court that she had falsely claimed she had not seen Chadwick with Orianna, despite the fact that he had been in contact with her.
This deception played a significant role in the tragic outcome, as the court found that her dishonesty contributed to the circumstances leading to Orianna’s death.
The attack on Orianna was described as particularly brutal.
After being left alone with her for approximately an hour while Chelsea Crilly and her sister went to see a doctor, Chadwick inflicted severe injuries.
When they returned, they found Orianna in a near-death state, suffering from two very severe blows to her skull.
Prosecutor Peter Wright QC stated that the injuries were so severe that they resembled those caused by a high-speed road traffic accident or a fall from a multi-storey building.
The precise manner in which Chadwick caused these injuries remains unclear, but the damage was catastrophic.
Prior to this fatal assault, Orianna had suffered from other injuries, including fractured ribs and a fractured vertebra in her neck.

It can only have served to increase her distress.” Chadwick’s relationship with Chelsea Crilly was also scrutinized, as it was revealed that their relationship had become a concern for authorities.
He was investigated for injuries sustained by another child, known as Baby T, but the case was eventually dropped.
Despite not being formally charged with any offense related to Baby T, the court noted that his guilt in Orianna’s death reinforced suspicions of his involvement in previous injuries.
