JAMIE CARTER OF ELLESMERE PORT SENTENCED TO 14 MONTHS FOR POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES
A man from Ellesmere Port, Jamie Carter, aged 22, of Shetland Drive, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after being found with hundreds of indecent images of children.
Carter appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, August 18, for sentencing after previously entering guilty pleas to all charges at the earliest opportunity.
Police investigations revealed that Carter had stored a total of 357 indecent images of children dating from September 19, 2019, to December 5, 2020.
Among these images, 103 were classified as 'Category A,' indicating the most severe level of indecency.
An additional 84 images were categorized as Category B, while 170 were classified as Category C.
Carter also admitted to possessing 11 prohibited images of children and 10 images depicting extreme pornography involving animals.
Based on these offences, Judge Simon Berkson sentenced Carter to a 14-month prison term.
Furthermore, Carter was placed under a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Under this order, he is barred from working with children or vulnerable adults and must not use any internet-enabled device without notifying police in advance.
He is also prohibited from attempting to conceal or delete his internet history, which must be made available for police inspection.
In addition to his imprisonment and SHPO, Carter is required to sign the sex offenders register and pay a surcharge of £149.
An iPhone 11 that Carter used to access the indecent images will be forfeited and destroyed as part of the court's order.
