JAMIE BARTON FROM LINCOLNSHIRE JAILED FOR FACEBOOK OFFENSES AFTER PRISON RELEASE
Jamie Barton, a convicted sex offender from Spring Street, Spalding in Lincolnshire, has been sentenced to two years in prison following his breach of legal restrictions and misuse of social media platforms.The incident came to light after authorities detected his activity on Facebook, which he accessed under a false alias, despite strict conditions imposed upon his release from prison.
Jamie Barton, aged 29, was previously convicted at Norwich Crown Court in December 2022 for serious offences, including engaging in sexual communication with a minor and participating in sexual activities with a child under the age of 16.
His conviction led to the imposition of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which explicitly prohibited him from accessing social media and required him to inform police of any alias names he might use.
Despite these restrictions, Barton was released from prison in May of the same year.
It was during this period that authorities discovered he had been secretly using Facebook under the pseudonym 'Tom Green.' Further investigations revealed that he also accessed Facebook Messenger and Snapchat, engaging in numerous conversations with women.
Importantly, the court was informed that none of these contacts involved minors, and there was no evidence of inappropriate communication with children.
The breach was uncovered when monitoring software installed on Barton's mobile phone flagged his activity.
