April 2007 Man ‘had 10,000 indecent images of children as young as three’ A CONVICTED pervert has been jailed after thousands of indecent images of children were found on his computer. A court heard that children as young as three featured in some of the pictures and film clips, found when police went to James Wild’s Chelmsford home. Wild, 64, was described by a judge as “immoral and degenerate” after he admitted 11 charges of possessing and making indecent images of children. He was jailed for a total of three years, banned from working with children and using the internet and put on the sex offenders’ register for ten years. Judge Roderick Newton also extended the licence period to five years. This means if Wild offends within this time, he could be returned to jail. Chelmsford Crown Court heard last Friday that Wild, of Moulsham Street, Chelmsford, started downloading child pornography from the internet only 11 days after he was released on licence from prison for similar matters. He had been jailed for 21 months in 2002 after police discovered 140,000 images of children, the court heard. Rex Bryan, prosecuting, said police received information that Wild was one of a number of people involved in viewing and downloading indecent images. When his computer was examined later, officers found 9,965 images and 308 film clips. The children involved appeared to range in age from about three to ten. Edmund Vickers, mitigating, said Wild was addicted to child pornography but was taking steps to deal with his problem. He had spend thousands of pounds on counselling and help with his alcohol problem and had not been near a computer for the past year, Mr Vickers said.
