POLICE HUNT FOR SUSPECT IN 1980S SEX ABUSE CASE WITH E-FIT IMAGE
Detectives investigating a series of sexual offences from the 1980s have issued an e-fit image of a man they seek to speak with in connection with the case.James Smith, also known as Jimmy Smith, is a Scottish man last seen at George Tavern Pub in Tower Hamlets, London, in November 2015.The Metropolitan Police wish to speak to him regarding allegations of rape and assault that occurred between 1981 and 1987, involving two victims who were under 18 years old at the time.The allegations were initially reported in 2013, but efforts to locate Mr Smith have been unsuccessful so far.He is described as a former Glasgow bus driver, originally from the Scottish Highlands, with a brother named Joe or Joseph.He moved to London in 1980 and at that time had light ginger hair.
It is estimated that he would now be between 65 and 75 years old.Hannah Stewart from the Met Police's sexual offences unit stated: "Inquiries to trace James Smith in connection with this investigation have so far been unsuccessful and by launching this appeal we hope that someone will be able to provide us with vital information that will lead us to him."
