JAMES NAYLOR GUILTY OF SEXUAL OFFENCES AT GOLF CLUB IN GLENROTHES AND ALLOA
A greenkeeper and course manager at Alloa Golf Club, James Naylor, aged 37 and hailing from Glenrothes, has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register following allegations of inappropriate and sexualised conduct towards a teenage employee. The incident, which took place at the golf club located in Sauchie, has drawn significant attention from the judicial authorities and has highlighted concerns about workplace harassment and misconduct.
According to court proceedings, the young girl, who was only 17 years old at the time, was employed at the golf club and had initially felt comfortable in her role.
However, her perception of her working environment changed dramatically after Naylor’s behavior shifted from professional to inappropriate.
Prosecutor Karen Chambers detailed that Naylor made a series of sexualised remarks directed at the teenager, which caused her considerable distress.
Ms.
Chambers explained that Naylor, who was the head greenkeeper and course manager, made comments that focused on the girl’s physical appearance.
She recounted that during their work together, Naylor remarked on her chest, telling her that “the members won’t be able to stop looking at your boobs since you wiped your hands on your jumper.” This comment was made after they had been working in muddy conditions or had been getting wet.
Additionally, Naylor made a comment about her bottom, saying, “Your bum looks nice in those trousers.” The young employee was visibly upset by these remarks and expressed her discomfort, but she did not initially report the behavior.
She was concerned about her job security and chose to remain silent at the time.
However, her anxiety increased, and she eventually felt unable to continue working under these circumstances.
She was signed off sick due to her feelings of anxiety and distress.
When she felt she could no longer return to her duties, she contacted the police to report the incident.
During police interviews, Naylor admitted to making the sexualised comments.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of communicating indecently by uttering inappropriate remarks to the teenage girl at Alloa Golf Club.
The court heard that this was Naylor’s first offence.
Alloa Sheriff Court, presided over by Sheriff Neil Bowie, heard the details of the case.
As part of the sentencing process, Naylor was ordered to register as a sex offender.
The sheriff also deferred sentencing until April 11 to allow for a criminal justice social work report and an assessment of Naylor’s suitability for a restriction of liberty order.
This order would involve him wearing an electronic ankle tag and adhering to a curfew.
Bail was continued, and the court reserved the right to impose further mitigation or conditions based on the upcoming assessments.
