JAMES MOORE SENTENCED IN PETERBOROUGH FOR CONTROLLING AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
On August 16, 2018, James Moore appeared before Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court to face charges related to controlling and coercive behaviour within an intimate family relationship.The court proceedings revealed that Moore had engaged in a pattern of behavior that exerted undue influence and control over a family member, causing significant emotional distress.
During the hearing, Moore pleaded guilty to the charges, acknowledging his involvement in the harmful conduct.
In response, the court handed down a sentence that focused on rehabilitation and safeguarding measures.
Moore was ordered to comply with a Community Order, which mandated his participation in a 10-day Anger Management Programme designed to address underlying issues contributing to his behaviour.
Additionally, he was required to undertake up to 50 days of a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, aimed at promoting positive behavioral change.
Furthermore, a Restraining Order was issued against Moore, explicitly prohibiting him from making any form of contact with the victim, whether directly or indirectly.
The order specified that contact could only occur through two appropriate adults or as directed by Children’s Services or the Family Court.
This protective measure was set to remain in effect until August 15, 2019, ensuring the victim’s safety and preventing further harassment or intimidation.
In addition to the community-based sanctions, Moore was fined £200, along with an £85 victim surcharge.
The court also ordered him to pay £625 in prosecution costs, covering the expenses incurred during the legal process.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the justice system in Peterborough and surrounding areas to combat domestic abuse and protect vulnerable individuals from coercive control.
