A man named James McDonagh, aged 36, has been sentenced to 22 months in prison following a violent assault against his partner in Glenrothes.

The incident, which took place on July 31 of the previous year, was marked by a series of aggressive and physically abusive actions that left the victim severely traumatized.

According to court records from Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, McDonagh’s violent outburst was triggered after his partner was seen embracing a male friend.

The court heard that McDonagh pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing injury and for behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at an address in Glenrothes.

Prosecutor Ronnie Hay detailed the harrowing sequence of events, describing how McDonagh grabbed his partner by the hair and shouted threateningly, “I’m going to jail and going to hurt you.” During the altercation, he forcibly dragged her through the living room by her hair, despite her pleas for help and her shouting to a witness to call the police.

The violence escalated as McDonagh threw her onto the floor, then proceeded to kick her ribs and punch her in the head, inflicting physical injuries and emotional trauma.
