April 2017 Pervert jailed for sex crimes against children A pervert, who tried to make two young children have sex while he watched has been jailed for 16 years. James McCaw, 26, has been convicted by a jury of six sex offences, including rape and carrying out sex attacks using a witch’s wand and a Glowstick. Now a judge has sentenced him to 16 years after ruling he was “an offender of particular concern”. The sentence was passed using powers in the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015, which means instead of being released on licence after serving half his sentence he will be referred to the parole board. They will decide whether it is safe for him to be released or whether he must serve the full custodial term. McCaw had denied the offences, but a jury at Canterbury Crown Court retired for more than five hours before returning guilty verdicts by a majority of 10-2. McCaw, of Trinity Square, Margate, shook his head as the verdicts were read out and waved to family and friends in the public gallery. As he was led away to begin his sentence he blew a kiss to a woman in the public gallery who was wearing an identical yellow t-shirt. Prosecutor Paul Valder revealed the predator had sexually abused two victims some years ago – including subjecting them to humiliating and degrading sex acts. He told the court McCaw had tried to blame the incidents on the two children. Mr Valder said the young girl later told police that McCaw had threatened to kill her if she revealed her ordeal. Police had launched an investigation into the allegations and had charged the pervert but halted proceedings when a child witness claimed she had been lying. The jury heard more allegations were then made years later and the police re-opened the case but again McCaw claimed he was the victim of malicious lies. But this time he was brought to court and convicted of the serious attacks. He was ordered to sign the Sex Offender’s Register.
