West Molesey Child Sexual Abuser
In May 2021, James Jeffrey, a 45-year-old man from West Molesey, was convicted of engaging in malicious and manipulative sexual crimes involving minors.

Jeffrey was described as a “predatory and manipulative” offender who shared explicit videos of children within a secret online chat group. He also took extensive measures to conceal his conversations with a 14-year-old girl on messaging platforms WhatsApp and Facebook.

The investigation began in 2018, when Surrey Police received intelligence indicating that an email address was being used to distribute indecent videos of children in an online chat group. Authorities traced this email to Jeffrey, leading to his arrest at his place of employment.

Subsequently, police executed a search warrant at Jeffrey’s home on Cherry Orchard Road, West Molesey, where they confiscated three mobile phones. Despite the phones being protected by PIN codes and Jeffrey’s initial refusal to cooperate, forensic experts were eventually able to break the security and access the devices.

Inside the phones, officers discovered a series of explicit conversations on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger between Jeffrey and the underage girl.

In March, Jeffrey stood trial at Kingston Crown Court and was found guilty of multiple charges, including sexual communication with a child, causing a child to view a sexual act, and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. He had previously pleaded guilty to possessing an extreme pornographic image.

On Tuesday, May 11, Jeffrey appeared again at Kingston Crown Court for sentencing, where he was sentenced to five years in prison. Additionally, he was placed under an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to prevent further offenses.
