JAMES GREEN, CONVICTED CHILD RAPIST FROM BRADFORD, RETURNS TO PRISON
A convicted child rapist, James Green, is back behind bars after incident during a police home search where he reportedly said, "I can't help myself." Green, 32, has a history of offenses: in 2011, he was sentenced to five years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for raping a girl under 13, and in 2019, he received a ten-month sentence for downloading indecent images of children.
As part of his 2019 sentence, Green was also subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which prohibited him from possessing unauthorised devices capable of accessing the internet.
Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday that West Yorkshire police were alerted in April of the previous year to the downloading of disturbing child abuse images and videos.
Their investigation led to Green's arrest in August.
During the police search of his home in Croft Place, Brighouse, officers examined his mobile devices and discovered over 250 images and videos categorised in the most severe category involving the sexual abuse of children under five years old.
Approximately two weeks later, officers conducted another check at Green's residence.
When asked about additional phones, Green admitted, "I've got another one.
There's things on it.
I can't help myself." They found a Samsung mobile phone hidden under his mattress, which contained a small number of indecent images.
Green was released on police bail but, during a monitoring check in October, it emerged that he had obtained another mobile phone, which he had hidden in a plant pot, without informing the public protection unit.
He subsequently pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to his downloading of child abuse images and repeated breaches of his SHPO.
Judge Richard Mansell QC, the Recorder of Bradford, sentenced Green to an additional 24 months in prison.
The judge emphasised that Green’s previous convictions and ongoing breaches significantly aggravated his offenses.
Green is now required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years and remains subject to the existing SHPO, which is in effect until 2029.
