JAMES GEORGE, SWANSEA PENSIONER, SENTENCED FOR INDECENT IMAGES AND SEXUAL SOLICITATION
In October 2010, a disabled pensioner from Swansea was sentenced to prison for crimes involving indecent images of children and attempts to incite minors to engage in sexual acts.James Aubrey George, aged 83 and confined to a wheelchair, was arrested earlier that year after luring three boys in their early teens to his residence in Hazel Court, Sketty Park.
During the incident, he used his computer to display indecent images of young boys along with videos depicting sexual acts.
He also attempted to persuade the teenagers to allow him to perform oral sex on them.
George was subsequently sentenced to 27 months in prison after pleading guilty to over 30 charges at Swansea Crown Court.
His admissions included three counts of inciting children to participate in sexual activities, three counts of causing children to view images of sexual acts, possession of 1,131 indecent photographs of children, and 24 counts related to the creation, possession, and distribution of such images between 2006 and the present year.
Prosecutor Jim Davis explained that George developed a relationship with the teenage boys after initiating conversation with one of them in March.
George offered to pay the boy for running errands, and later, the boy and a schoolfriend visited his home.
A few weeks afterward, the teenagers were joined by another youth during a visit to George’s house.
He asked if they wanted to use his computer and showed them indecent images and videos of sexual activity.
He also asked one of the boys to show him his private parts.
Furthermore, George inquired if they wanted to have sex with him and attempted to persuade them to allow him to perform oral sex.
Once the police were informed, officers executed a search warrant at George’s residence and discovered over 1,000 indecent images of children on his computer.
It was also revealed he had been using email to distribute such images since 2006.
Ieuan Rees, representing George in mitigation, noted that none of the boys had been physically touched or molested at the defendant’s home.
The judge, Peter Heywood, ordered the forfeiture and destruction of George’s computer equipment and mandated that he register as a sex offender for a duration of ten years.
