POLICE OFFICER JAILED FOR SEX WITH CHILD RAPE VICTIM MET ON TINDER
A Metropolitan Police officer, PC James Evans, aged 26, was sentenced to four years in prison after he engaged in sexual activities with a 15-year-old girl he met on Tinder.Evans knowingly exchanged dozens of explicit messages with the girl, who initially lied about her age, claiming she was 16 but later revealed she was only 15 and still at school, even stating she was taking exams.
The court heard that Evans later took her to his flat in Ruislip, where they had full intercourse.
Despite knowing her age and her status as a rape victim receiving mental health treatment, Evans continued his relationship with her, which caused her significant psychological harm, including multiple hospitalizations due to overdose.
Judge Robin Johnson stated, "Before any sexual activity you knew she was a vulnerable young girl.
Nevertheless, you allowed your own desire to overcome your better judgment.
The harm caused in these cases is incalculable." The victim’s mother reported the relationship after discovering photographs of Evans in his police uniform in her daughter's diary.
Evans pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual activity with a child, initially denying but later admitting to the charges.
He is now also on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
During police interviews, Evans admitted, "I know it was stupid - I had sex with her, knowing she was 15," acknowledging his wrongdoing.
The court emphasized the seriousness of his offence due to the severe psychological impact on the victim and the breach of trust as a law enforcement officer.
