JAMES EASTWOOD AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN LANCASHIRE
A convicted sex offender, James Eastwood, has been sentenced to a lengthy term of imprisonment after a series of disturbing incidents in Lancashire.The case begins with Eastwood's initial heinous act in June 2019, when, at the age of just 16, he assaulted a teenage girl near a supermarket in Bamber Bridge.
The attack involved the rape of a young schoolgirl who was walking nearby, an assault that shocked the local community and drew police attention due to its severity.
Following this troubling incident, Eastwood was eventually taken into custody and released on bail while authorities continued their investigations.
During this period, he committed further sexual offenses, targeting two additional teenage girls in May of the following year.
These subsequent assaults underscored his pattern of predatory conduct and contributed to the severity of his eventual sentencing.
Now aged 20 and residing on Brindle Road in Bamber Bridge, Eastwood faced justice in a legal process that was complicated by delays caused by the Covid pandemic.
Despite the postponements, the court treated him as a juvenile for sentencing purposes, reflecting the age at the time of the initial offences.
The judge overseeing the case sentenced Eastwood to a total of eight years in prison, with an extended licence of the same length upon release.
Additionally, the court imposed a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a lifetime restraining order, severely restricting his future contact with potential victims.
He was also mandated to remain on the sex offenders’ register for life, emphasizing the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses.
In a further punitive measure, Eastwood was convicted of possessing indecent images of children, material that was discovered on his mobile phone during the investigation.
This evidence further underscored his dangerous and predatory character.
The case attracted praise from law enforcement officials, with Detective Constable Laura Thornley of the south rape team highlighting the quality of police work.
She stated, “Eastwood is a dangerous sexual predator and I welcome the sentence.
I would like to praise the victims in this case for having the courage to go through the court process and to see their attacker imprisoned.” She also expressed hope that the strong sentence would encourage others to report similar crimes, reassuring victims that the police investigation would be conducted with professionalism, sensitivity, and resilience.
Thornley emphasized that the authorities are committed to ensuring justice is served, and that offenders are permanently held accountable for their actions.
