June 2012 James Davy, 32, had 4,700 indecent photos on his computer A DELIVERY driver fought to hold back tears of shame as a judge told him how he had contributed to child abuse. James Davy, 32, had 4,488 indecent images of children, 246 extreme pornographic images and eight prohibited images on his home computer when police raided his home on May 15 last year, said Oliver Thorne, prosecuting. Davy had actively searched the internet for such images, said the barrister at York Crown Court. Recorder Darren Preston told Davy: “In order for these images to be made, in order for photographs of children being abused to exist, children have to be abused. People who look at this material create a market for it. If there weren’t people wanting to view it, there wouldn’t be a demand for it. “You are, I am sure, genuinely ashamed of falling into this morass of pornography.” Davy, of Dukes Court, off Boroughbridge Road, Acomb, pleaded guilty to four charges of internet child pornography, one of possessing extreme pornography and one of possessing prohibited images. He was given a 36-week prison sentence, suspended for two years on condition he does two years’ supervision and goes on a sex offender treatment programme. “He was also put on the sex offenders’register for ten years, made subject to a sexual offences prevention order to restrict his use of the internet for five years and ordered to pay £425 prosecution costs. For Davy, Jon Gregg said his client had been going through a difficult time when he was drinking too much and in debt. He had since started to put his financial affairs in order and changed from working in an insurance company to being a delivery man. Most of the child images were at the lowest level. He had not distributed any images or put them on file sharing software.
