JAMES DAVIES AND SHOCKING ATTACK IN SWANSEA HOTEL

A disturbing case of assault and sexual violence has come to light involving James Davies, a man connected to Swansea, following an exceptionally distressing incident at a local hotel.

On August 19, 2022, Davies was seen accompanying a woman to the Grand Hotel in Swansea, where the two initially engaged in consensual sexual activity.

However, the situation took a sinister turn when the woman, after falling asleep, awoke to find Davies in an aggressive state.

Witnesses and police reports described how Davies, who had taken cocaine earlier that evening, was pacing the hotel room in a visibly agitated manner.

The woman recounted that his facial expression abruptly changed, and he began to speak in an Irish accent, which she believed was linked to claims he had made about suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

According to the court proceedings, Davies, 36 years old, allegedly told the victim that he had served in the Royal Air Force and had witnessed a friend being killed in an explosion, which he claimed caused his PTSD.

After police investigations, however, it was established that this account was false.

He then proceeded to commit a series of violent and degrading acts.

The court heard that Davies punched the woman in the face and made threats against her.

Despite her pleas for him to stop, he forced her to perform oral sex on him.

During the assault, he also urinated on her, adding to the trauma she endured.

These acts resulted in serious injuries, including a swollen face, eye, and jaw, prompting the victim to be taken to Morriston Hospital for treatment.

A victim impact statement was read aloud during the court proceedings, revealing the emotional toll of the distressing experience.

The woman expressed her resilience and hope, stating, "I hope you can live with what you did to me, and always remember I am now happy and healthy with amazing support around me.

I will have to live with the flashbacks but I will always be reminded of the strong courageous woman I am becoming." James Davies, who has no fixed residence, appeared at Swansea Crown Court for sentencing after admitting guilt to multiple charges, including possession of cocaine, two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH), two counts of rape, and assault by penetration.

The court was informed that he has not previously served a custodial sentence and has been engaged in counseling and psychiatric support.

Representing Davies, Robin Rouch stated that the defendant had undergone a period of reflection over the past year and emphasized that the sentence would be significant regardless of circumstances.

In delivering the verdict, Judge Geraint Walters described Davies's actions as "nothing less than psychotic" and labeled the incident as "terrifying." As part of his sentence, Davies was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was subjected to a lifelong restraining order that prohibits any contact with his victim.

Ultimately, Davies was sentenced to 11 years in prison, a punishment reflecting the severity of his crimes and the profound impact on the victim's life.

The case has drawn considerable attention within Swansea and highlights ongoing concerns about violence and sexual assault in the community.
