JAMES DANSON FROM GRIMSBY SENTENCED FOR VIEWING EXTREME CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local community of Grimsby, James Danson, aged 35, of Ladysmith Road, was found guilty of possessing and viewing highly disturbing and extreme images of child pornography. The incident came to light in April 2017 when police officers executed a search warrant at Danson’s residence, seizing a laptop and a computer that contained evidence of his illicit activities.
According to the prosecution, led by Craig Lowe, authorities discovered a total of 70 indecent images, including videos, depicting children in sexualized and abusive scenarios.
The court was informed that these images included some of the most extreme and shocking content, featuring scenes that involved the death of individuals, which the judge described as “foul images” and “the most extreme” of their kind.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Danson was heavily intoxicated at the time he accessed these materials.
His defense attorney, Andrew Bailey, emphasized that the downloads were limited in number, occurring only five to ten times, and that the activity had ceased around 2014, approximately two years prior to his arrest.
Bailey also pointed out that Danson had no prior criminal record, suggesting that this was an isolated incident.
Judge Mark Bury did not hold back in condemning the nature of the images.
He described them as “an example of the most extreme images of this type,” highlighting their disturbing content involving death scenes.
The judge expressed his strong disapproval of such material and the harm it represents.
As a result of his actions, Danson was sentenced to six months in prison.
Additionally, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact related to such material.
Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and community safety measures.
This case underscores the serious legal and moral implications of possessing and viewing extreme child pornography, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and enforcement in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse.
