WORKINGTON MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE ATTACK ON PARTNER
A man who assaulted his partner during a drug and alcohol-fueled attack has been sentenced to prison.
On 14 October, James Butler, aged 30, struck his girlfriend Suzannah Lightfoot at their residence, physically assaulting her with punches and a headbutt.
Carlisle Crown Court was informed that Butler bit her arm and shook his head aggressively, likening his behavior to that of a savage animal.
Additionally, he attempted to incite his dog to attack her, but the animal only licked her instead.
Butler, who resides on Milburn Street in Workington, received a 20-month jail term.
During his arrest, two police officers were bitten by him.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and one charge of possessing cannabis.
