JAMES BAINBRIDGE SENTENCED IN BEXLEY FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
A registered sex offender, James Bainbridge, aged 26, of Hartslock Drive in Bexley, has been sentenced to three years in prison after police discovered indecent images of children on his tablet.
Bainbridge appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, January 27, and pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order, as well as one count each of distributing and making indecent images of children.
Bainbridge's criminal history includes a two-year suspended prison sentence handed down in October 2020, after he attempted to meet a teenage girl he had been communicating with online.
The sentence also included restrictions on his use of technology and an order prohibiting him from having unsupervised contact with children.
On July 6, 2021, officers from a specialist unit tasked with monitoring registered sex offenders in Bexley received reports of suspicious activity involving Bainbridge’s tablet.
When authorities visited his residence, they discovered evidence indicating he had violated his sexual harm prevention order.
Bainbridge was subsequently arrested, and his device was confiscated.
A forensic analysis of the tablet revealed that Bainbridge had accessed and viewed indecent images of children as young as 10 years old.
Police Constable Jemma Morgan from the MET’s South East Jigsaw Unit commented, “Bainbridge was being closely monitored by officers due to previous offending, and it was through this monitoring that this offending came to light.
This type of crime is completely unacceptable, and we take strong action when we receive reports of this nature to protect children and young people from harm.”
