In June 2000, a man from Runcorn was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offenses involving a 10-year-old girl. James Ashcroft, aged 63 and residing in Dukes Close, pleaded guilty at Warrington Crown Court to six counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape. Following his sentencing, Ashcroft was also mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
