SOLDIER JAILED FOR RAPING WOMAN AT KNIFEPOINT
Jamal Jackson, aged 27, told his victim, "God cannot help you now," as he commanded her to remove her clothing and climb on top of him.A court heard that he had promised to put down his knife if she did not scream or pray, before instructing her to take a shower to eliminate any evidence.
The woman was able to escape the bathroom after grabbing her clothes and fleeing by climbing out of a window.
At the time of the attack in October of the previous year, Jackson was serving in the British Army.
On Thursday, April 19, he was sentenced to 10 years and four months in prison.
The incident occurred when Jackson and the woman were at a residence, where he pulled out a knife.
The woman managed to raise the alarm by fleeing from the property.
Authorities responded by calling the police and breaching the house.
Upon their arrival, police found Jackson attempting to take his own life.
He was transported to hospital and was only deemed fit for questioning 11 days later.
Jackson, residing on Whitworth Jones Avenue in Henlow, Bedfordshire, pleaded guilty to the charge of rape at Luton Crown Court.
