JAKOB JANKOWSKI MAIDENHEAD MAN FOUND WITH NEARLY 24,000 CHILD AND ANIMAL ABUSE IMAGES
In December 2017, shocking details emerged about Jakob Jankowski, a resident of Ray Mead Road in Maidenhead, who was discovered to have stored an extensive collection of extremely disturbing images involving children and animals. The images, which spanned over a decade, included graphic depictions of abuse and exploitation, with some of the children involved estimated to be less than one year old. These images were found alongside personal photographs of Jankowski’s wedding, highlighting the disturbing juxtaposition of his private life and his illicit activities.Authorities conducted a raid on Jankowski’s residence in February, uncovering three hard drives containing a total of approximately 5,000 Category A images and videos. These materials included explicit content involving bestiality and the abuse of children, with some videos capturing children in distressing situations, such as being tied up and subjected to oral sex performed by animals. Prosecutor William Eaglestone, speaking at Reading Crown Court, detailed the severity of the findings, emphasizing that the children depicted ranged from infants to teenagers, with some images showing them in highly vulnerable and distressing circumstances. The court was informed that the images conveyed clear signs of the children’s suffering, with audible distress in some of the videos.
Jankowski, originally from Poland, reportedly endured a troubled childhood after losing his father at the age of eight. His criminal actions led to a conviction and sentencing in which he received a prison term of 28 months. He admitted to charges of making indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic material, and holding a prohibited image of a child. As part of his sentence, Jankowski was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years and was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his activities.
During sentencing, Recorder Rhona Campbell underscored the gravity of the crimes, stating, “These matters may take place on the internet, but it does not allow for any detachment from the victims. These children are real, and your collection is one of the largest we have seen. If there was not a market for people like you, these children would not be subjected to such treatment.” She also noted that the collection had exceeded the capacity of Thames Valley Police to manage, prompting a directive that other equipment linked to Jankowski’s activities should not be returned until thoroughly checked. Additionally, a forfeiture order was issued for the destruction of the three hard drives, ensuring that the illicit material would be permanently removed from circulation.
